Description

Go for 14 days of adventure in Uzbekistan, Tachkent in the long term, following the caravanserai trail. You will discover historical treasures every day: mausoleums, physicians and fortresses follow one another, witnesses of a rich past. Along the way, you will explore Khiva, Boukhara, Samarcande and many other jewels, while enjoying local hospitality and traditional flavors.

Day 1: Flight to Tashkent

You take a flight with Turkish Airlines via Istanbul to Tashkent, and you arrive early the next day.

Day 2: Arrival in Tashkent

When you arrive in Tashkent at midnight, your guide will warmly welcome you and then take you to the hotel, where you can rest. The next morning, you will have a late breakfast.

In the afternoon, you will explore the capital of Uzbekistan. You will first discover the mausoleum of Kaffal Chachy, then the Médersa Kukeldach and then the famous library of the Koran. Thereafter, you will walk in the pedestrian zone, led by many traders and cafes. Finally, you will borrow the only central Asian metro, renowned for the sumptuous decoration of its stations.

To conclude this day, you will dine in a local restaurant. You will spend two nights in Tashkent. First of all, this marks the start of your exploration of the Tachkent circuit in the long term.

Day 3: Tashkent - Nukus - Khujayli - Nukus

First of all, your driver takes you to the airport to board to Nukus, the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan. Upon arrival, it drops you off directly at the hotel. In the afternoon, you visit the famous Igor Savitsky museum, which has a prolific collection of oil paintings in the Russian avant-garde. Subsequently, you go to the Mizdakhan historical complex, located 20 km away: this gigantic cemetery houses several mausoleums, mosques and innumerable burials of different eras, a mystical place with clocks from the world.
Finally, you dine in a typical restaurant before spending a night in Nukus.

Day 4: Nukus - Ayaz Kala - Toprak Kala - Khiva

First, you leave Nukus and take the road to Khiva. Along the way, you visit Ayaz Kala, this imposing land fortress dating from the 2nd century BC. AD, perched on the eastern slope of sultanuvaystag in the Kyzylkoum desert. Then you continue your discovery with Toprak Kala, ancient capital of Khorem in the second century AD. AD, whose ruins testify to the past greatness of the region.

In the afternoon, you finally reach the Oasis city of Khiva. For dinner, you savor the "Shivitoshi", these typical green noodles - the dough is made with dill juice, which gives them their special color. You will spend two nights in Khiva, ready to explore the historic treasures of this millennial city tomorrow.

Day 5: Khiva

First of all, you are starting your exploration in the heart of Ichan-Kala, a city founded in the VIII century and which quickly established itself as a commercial crossroads along the Silk Road, connecting the Caspian Sea to the Volga. You first admire the Mohammed Amin Khan Médersa, built in the 19th century, then you head to the Kalta Minar, this short and massive minaret, before continuing by the Minaret Islam Khodja. You then imbued with the tranquility of the mausoleum of Pakhlavan Makhmud, roam the Tash Hovli lessons and finish this first part of visit to the Juma mosque, originally built as a Zoroastrian temple.

In the afternoon, you join the Palais de Nurullabay, a joint work of local artisans and German mennonites who lived in Khiva for a time: you discover the finesse of their know-how, so appreciated by the inhabitants of the city. Finally, you savor a sumptuous dinner in the Khans summer palace, Toza-Bog ', in the company of at least eight guests. Then let the fantastic impressions of this day operate their magic on you.

Day 6: Khiva - Bukhara (420km)

First of all, you will cross the semi-desert of Kyzylkoum (red sand) then the steppe to reach Boukhara. Along the way, you will stop for a picnic in an Ouzbèke tea-room, the famous "Roadhouse". Then you will arrive at your hotel in Boukhara and you will settle down comfortably. In the evening, you will explore the city at your own pace. Thereafter, you will dine in a local restaurant before returning to your hotel. Finally, you will stay three nights in Boukhara to fully enjoy this historic city.

Day 7: Bukhara

First, you start your visit with the mausoleum of Ismaïl Samanid, then you discover the mausoleum of Chashmai Ayub. Then, you continue to walk in Bukhoroi Sharif, a city hosted by its imposing merchant domes, mosques and physicians. In addition, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it still perpetuates teaching today in its religious buildings, notably Miri Arab's Miri. Subsequently, you admire the classic Lyabi Hauz complex, bordered by shopping downs, then you explore several mosques, physicians and the Khanaka, this dervish monastery located in the heart of the city. In addition, on the way, you visit the vaulted markets of Toqi Zargaron, Toqi Telpakfurushon and Toqi Saraffon.

To conclude this day, you dine in an old Jewish house with a Boukhara family. In addition, Abdurahman, Susani Brodeur, makes you discover the finesse of local embroidery. Finally, you savor the Plov of the Emir, prepared according to tradition.

Day 8: Bukhara

First of all, you visit the Chor Minor physician, whose four minarets (Chor meaning "four") and the architectural style recall Indian construction traditions.
Then you take the road to the summer residence of the last emir of Boukhara, Sitorai Mokhi Khosa - literally "the place where the moon and the stars meet".

In addition, you notice that Boukhara is one of the seven holy cities of the Islamic world and that it has welcomed many soufies brotherhoods over the eras. You discover more particularly the Naqshbandiya order, whose deep influence continues today. You learn that Bahauddin Naqshbandi, spiritual mentor of Tamerlan, advocated the motto "God in the heart, work in his hands" and that his memorial complex was considered as the Mecca of Central Asia.

In the afternoon, you explore the Jewish district of Boukhara and visit a synagogue over 400. Then you end the day by discovering a traditional puppet workshop.

Day 9: Bukhara - Rabati Malik - Samarkand

First, you will take the road to Samarkand, one of the pearls of the Orient, founded over 2,750 years ago. Along the way, you will stop at the ruins of an old caravanserail and Sardoba (water tank), vestiges dating from the 14th to the 14th century which testify to the many caravans having traveled this portion of the silk road.

Then, you will arrive in Samarkand, quoted evoking the tales of a thousand and one nights, considered in the Middle Ages as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and whose charm continues today. After a lunch break, you will visit the Place du Registan, Uzbekistan emblem, bordered by its three unique physicians: Ulugbek, Sherdor and Tillea Kori. Then, you will discover the sumptuous mausoleum of the Gour-Emir, Timur necropolis, says Tamerlan.
Finally, you will dine in a local restaurant before spending two nights in Samarkand.

Day 10: Samarkand

First of all, you will visit the Saint-Daniel funeral complex, one of the largest pilgrimage sites in the Islamic world. Then, you will discover the Bibi-Khanym mosque, once considered one of the most majestic sacred buildings in the Orient. Next to the mosque, you will join the Siyab bazaar, one of the oldest in Samarkand, where you will stroll for thirty minutes.

Then you will go to the Ouloug Beg Observatory, which was the main research center of Central Asia. Subsequently, you will explore Shakhi Zinda, "the living king", a necropolis where the members of the Tamerlan family still rest today. After this discovery, you will take advantage of a well -deserved break, then you will visit the workshop of the Mukhtarov brothers, stationed masters who have revived the artisanal manufacturing of hint paper according to the Samarkan tradition. Finally, you will dine at the "Samarkand" restaurant, where you will experience the Uzbeke culture in an authentic atmosphere.

Day 11: Samarkand - Shakhrisabz

First of all, you take the road to Chakhrisabz by crossing a spectacular mountain pass. Then you discover the ruins of the Ak-Saray summer palace, a monumental work of Tamerlan, then you visit the Khazrati Imam mosque and the Kok-Gumbaz mausoleum. Subsequently, you explore the Dar-US-Sadat complex, a real testimony to the grandeur of the Timouride Empire.

In addition, although Samarkand was the capital of the Timur Empire, Chakhrisabz, the birthplace of the emir, perfectly illustrates its power. Indeed, the remains of the palace of Ak-Saray remain imposing and recall the past extent of his reign.

To conclude this day, you dine in a local family, which shares you traditions and warmth of hospitality. Finally, you spend the night in an authentic hotel in Chakhrisabz.

Day 12: Shakhrisabs - Termez

First, you take the road to Termez, 360 km away. When you arrive, you register at the hotel and settle down comfortably. Subsequently, you discover that Termez, one of the oldest cities in Central Asia, has more than 2,700 years of history. In addition, you learn how the city played a decisive role in the dissemination of Buddhism in the East, from India to the Surkhandarya.

Then you visit the archaeological museum, where you admire millennial objects and vestiges. Then, you enter the mausoleum of Al-Khakim al-Termezy, remarkable for its neat architecture and its spiritual atmosphere. After that, you explore the fortress of Kirk Kyz and its imposing ramparts which dominate the landscape.

Finally, you dine at the hotel, where you taste local specialties, then you spend your first and unique night in the long term.

Day 13: Termz - Tashkent

First of all, after a hearty breakfast, you visit the ruins of the Buddhist monastery of Fayaz Tepe. Then you explore the architectural complex of Sultan Saodat, linked to the Sayyids of Termez. Then, you go to the Buddhist Tower of Surmala, which is 16 m in height.

In the afternoon, you take the shuttle for the airport and embark on your flight to Tashkent. Finally, as soon as you arrive, you dine in a local restaurant and spend a night in Tashkent.

Day 14: Tashkent - Return flight

First of all, after a morning breakfast, you take the road for the airport to board your return flight. Finally, your circuit ends "on the Tashkent caravanserai trail in the long term".
